Review – Finding You

Title: Finding You

Author: Jo Watson

Series: Destination Love #3

4 stars

Now listen. I’ve been a fan of Jo Watson for years now – ever since I read her first novel, Burning Moon on Wattpad and then I was over the (burning) moon excited when I found out it was getting published. I read some of her other works as well online, but Finding You was not one of them. Because it wasn’t posted online. So there.

So when I got this beauty in my hands I had no idea what I was in store for (other than what was printed on the back) and I was so excited, which meant my expectations were high, but I had confidence that Jo would deliver – and she did.

Finding You is the third book in the Destination Love series that all follow different women, but they loosely overlap with each other in some way, so there will be spoilers in this one if you have not read Burning Moon and Almost a Bride (which I highly HIGHLY recommend that you do!)

Jane Smith was adopted as a child, but she never felt unloved, just unlike and out of place from the rest of her family. As her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, she is struck by an overwhelming longing to finally find her place in the world. So in a very un-Jane-like move, she books a last-minute ticket to Greece to find her birth father and the real Jane. All she knows about him is it that he was a tour guide named Dimitri. Armed with this knowledge and several surprise boxes of condoms from her mom (yikes), Jane takes off.

Within minutes of landing she makes two important discoveries. First, everyone in Greece is named Dimitri, and second, fate might be playing a sick joke on her when a sexy tour guide called Dimitri comes to fetch her from the airport. He offers to help Jane with her search—if she’ll go on an adventure with him. Stable Jane would never risk a steamy vacation romance. But real Jane might finally be ready to listen to her heart. Will Jane find her biological father, or will she end up finding something else entirely?
(Once again thanks to Goodreads for kindly providing a synopsis).

So a few things you need to know about Jo Watson’s books. First. they always take place in a foreign and exotic place. Burning Moon – Thailand, Almost a Bride – Mauritius and now Finding You – Greece and this just lets you dream yourself away to these gorgeous destinations and wish you were the MC so you could experience some holiday romance as well.

Second. They.are.hilarious! Seriously. I’ve never read such flawlessly funny books before. Jo Watson has got a comical gift and I found myself in fits of laughter several times throughout the book as well as cringeworthy moments that almost had me hiding my face in my hands.
And we live for these moments!

And third. They always leave you craving more! And Finding You was no exception. I fell, like Jane, head over heel for this model-hot tour guide, Dimitri and just wanted to be swept away into his olive-tanned arms and never look back.

Back to reality.

I so so enjoyed this book, but it didn’t have the OMFGWOW factor that it needed to get the last star for a full plate, but 4 stars are still a great end result and it deserves every one of them.

All the books in Destination Love center around self-discovery with a good dose of female empowerment that makes you raise your fist and yell “YO GO, GIRL!” but also makes you lower your first and cringe “OH MY GOD YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT, GIRL!”

Do I recommend this hilarious and heartwarming book?
Why yes I do.

To whom?
To every single one of you that loves reading romantic and humorous books. These books have it all.

Seriously. Read it! GO!
